Labor & Birth > Love Notes
"I had a particularly long labor, and pushed for what seemed like forever, but Lori was patient and calm through it all. She let me know how good I was doing and that we could wait for the baby needed to make his entrance into this world. I feel that if I had been in a hospital I would have been rushed along and probably would have been encouraged to use unnatural interventions to speed things along. The personal care and attention are priceless.”

I had my first baby with Lori three years ago, and will soon be delivering my second. Although my first labor was long, Lori was patient and I have wonderful memories of my son's birth. We were calm, relaxed, and peaceful at home. My husband and I had the freedom to make choices about how we wanted to bring our son into this world, and we're so happy that we chose Lori. Not only was she kind and caring, but she knew what to do at every stage and was competent when it came to the work of birthing the baby. I felt safe knowing she was there to take care of me and my baby. We are looking forward to another joyful birth experience soon.

When I hear others talk about their births I must admit I am a bit confused by it. To me, birth was a seamless event. You go into labor, you have your baby. There were no interruptions to the process. No blood draw, no “staff” to deal with, no vaginal exams, no beeping noises. Lori treated me with nothing but loving-kindness and intelligence through the whole process. The only “complication” I had was a tear at the end, and she sewed me up perfectly and painlessly.

"It’s been a great pleasure for me to catch both of our boys. Being a support and encouragement to my wife during the labor and birth is important, but actually catching each child involves me in a different way that touches me much more deeply. I feel much more connected to our boys and I think it gives me a glimpse into the bond a mother has with her newborn. We felt confident in Lori's ability and confident knowing that she shared our desire to let the natural process work the way God intended."

My birth is such a joyful memory for both my husband and myself. Having our baby at home meant that there were no annoying hospital procedures, no shift changes in nurses, and no sterile environment. We were surrounded by love, encouragement, and peace throughout our experience, and when it was all over and the midwives left, we were tucked into our own bed with our beautiful new blessing. I can't think of a better way to begin a child's life."

“Our birth experience with Lori was amazing. As my due date approached I was not showing any signs of labor. Lori and I kept in close contact and she would assure me that everything was ok. When I was not sure as to what was happening she came to my home to check me. This was wonderful, I didn't even have to leave my home or get a sitter for my other two children. When labor began, we called Lori and told her to come, she didn't waste any time. She called her apprentices and they were there in a half an hour. They were calm, quiet, and so helpful. I was really impressed with her apprentice Deanna. She knew exactly what she was doing and Lori was there step by step to help if she needed assistance, which was not necessary. I felt completely safe in their hands. It was truly a miracle from God to experience my child being born in the water. Words cannot express the feeling of being able to nurse my baby when he was seconds old with his umbilical cord attached. I loved having my three year
old daughter present who grabbed my hand and watched her brother enter this world. After the birth we were able to get in our own comfortable bed and snuggle with our new addition. We didn't have nurses coming in every hour waking us up or poking and prodding our child. It was serene and beautiful. As for postpartum, Lori came the next day and checked myself and our baby. Again, I felt completely taken care of. If you are thinking about a homebirth, I strongly encourage you to talk to Lori, it is by far one our best memories. There is nothing better than birthing your child in the comfort of your own home and knowing you are in good hands”.

"Why did I choose a homebirth? Because there are things that are easier, but few things in life are this amazing, and nothing this amazing is ever easy. I wanted to experience every nuance of my labor and birth and my midwives were there with me, sympathizing, encouraging and celebrating right alongside of me. I loved it!"

"In addition to your kindness, your expertise put me at ease. I'm amazed at all that is involved in a healthy birth, and you calmly took care of every detail. You quickly got my baby warm and dry, gave us time to settle and then checked him over and stamped his feet for footprints in the baby book - going from medical to sentimental and taking care of everything! I couldn't have asked for anything more."

Water Birth > Love Notes
"Water birth was a great experience and was much less painful than my other two ‘land births.’ It was absolutely incredible to watch my baby emerge from my body under the water. Catching my own baby and lifting him from the water was one I’ll never forget! I’m an aqua mama from here on out!”
-Julie
“Our baby girl was a water birth at home. It was incredible! Water birth was great for labor and my husband was able to be fully involved. He actually delivered our daughter. Lori walked him through each step and we were able to both take part in a life changing experience.”
