The clients and providers of Ancient Paths Midwifery & Birth Center have understandable concerns about the implications of SARS-CoV2 and COVID-19 for their health and safety. Our primary concern is to protect those who have entrusted themselves and their babies to our care, as well as to ensure the safety of our APM team. In doing so, our goal is to not only protect the APM community, but also limit the potential strain on our local healthcare system.
With Californias current Shelter At Home mandates, we have altered our ways of doing business. Staff is working mostly from home and we've moved the bulk of our appointments to the Telehealth venue where we can continue to review all the questions, symptoms, diet, education and informed consent. For the in-person portion of our visits we are still seeing some clients in office for those essential visit needing lab work or ultrasound (20, 28, 36, 40+ weeks). Clients are purchasing urine sticks, blood pressure cuff and fetoscope and self monitor at home. We've also set up a once a week community meeting where we can chat about all the updates, share birthy info, be encouraged. We all need community!
BEFORE CALLING PLEASE GO TO THE 'TRANSERRING CARE DURING THE PANDEMIC' PAGE ON THIS WEBSITE. YOU WILL NEED READ AND MEET ALL CRITERIA BEFORE CALLING OUR OFFICE.
Ancient Paths Midwifery will continue to take great care of our clients as we follow the recommendations of our local county, state and federal agencies. We have been making necessary adjustments as the situation evolves. We may see an increased interest in out of hospital births during this time and we are still accepting new patients who meet our criteria for normal, low-risk pregnancy with planned unmedicated births.
At this time if YOU or your family members have a cough, runny nose, shortness of breath, fever, or diarrhea, traveled by air in the last 15 days or believe you could have been exposed to COVID-19 please do not come to the birth center for clinical visits, or births. If you are a client of APM and are feeling ill or believe you have been exposed to the COVID-19 virus please call the birth center and ask to speak to a midwife.
Thank you for your continued trust in our model of care. We will disseminate additional information to our staff and clients as needed in the coming weeks. For the most up-to-date information, please visit us on Facebook or Instagram and thank you for helping us protect our most precious Mamas and new babies!
